Specialized Alternatives for Families and Youth (SAFY) Celebrates 27 Years

One of the nation’s leading family and children services organization marks a milestone this week. On January 23rd, Specialized Alternatives for Families and Youth (SAFY) begins its 27th year serving children and families in crisis.

SAFY began in Lima in 1984 as a foster care agency with one client in one office. Today its operations have grown throughout eight states to serve over 4,300 children and families annually. Caring for the most difficult-to-place foster youth, SAFY secures safe and loving homes providing a team of skilled professionals who administer individualized care in hopes of reunifying the biological family whenever possible. In addition to foster care, its services include adoption, in-home child and family treatment, outpatient mental health, medically fragile care, independent living and mental and development disability services. SAFY continues to develop and provide cutting-edge, quality services for children and families through its highly trained staff and implementation of innovation healing models.

SAFY has offices in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Alabama, South Carolina, Texas and Nevada. It is headquartered in Delphos, Ohio. For more information on SAFY or becoming a foster parent, visit www.safy.org.
