Specialized Alternatives for Families and Youth (SAFY) of America is a leading national nonprofit organization providing a full continuum of services for youth in the child welfare and juvenile justice systems. Founded in 1984, SAFY provides nationally-recognized family and children services in 28 offices across eight states including
Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, South Carolina, Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas and Nevada.
Offering a broad range of programming from early intervention and prevention and home-based or community-
based interventions to out-of-home placements, and reunification and aftercare services for more than 9,098 difficult-to-place dependent children and children at risk, SAFY’s comprehensive services include treatment
foster care, adoption, emergency and runaway services, mental health services, in-home services, independent
living, developmental disabilities services, juvenile offender programs, aftercare, special medical services and teen parent programs.
Additionally, SAFY of America leads the nation in developing evidence-based programming and strategies, providing
sixteen programs and strategies PROVEN effective in reducing recidivism, substance abuse and/or anti-social behavior in rigorous meta-analysis. Many of the programs and strategies have been offered at SAFY for decades, including multidimensional foster care, mentoring, group counseling, sex offender treatment, social skills training, case management and academic and vocational interventions.
